Raigorodskii Andrey Mikhailovich

Mathematician, author of more than 200 scientific articles, Director of the PhysTech School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics, Chief Researcher and Head of the Laboratory of Advanced Combinatorics and Network Applications, Head of the Applied Research Laboratory of MIPT–Sberbank, Head of the Department of Discrete Mathematics at FPMI, leader of joint research programs between Yandex and MIPT, and Editor-in-Chief of the journal Moscow Journal of Combinatorics and Number Theory, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Federal Professor of Mathematics.

Awarded the Prize of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences for a series of works on combinatorial geometry.
Awarded the Presidential Prize of the Russian Federation in Science and Innovation for Young Scientists for “major achievements in several areas of discrete mathematics and their practical applications in information technology.”

An active popularizer of science, author of several popular-science books and brochures.
His research interests include problems of combinatorics and combinatorial topology; in particular, he has studied Borsuk’s problem on partitioning sets into parts of smaller diameter, the Nelson–Hadwiger problem on coloring metric spaces, and the Erdős–Hajnal problem on hypergraph coloring.
He also works on practical applications of graph and hypergraph theory (in the company Yandex), including building models and studying random web graphs.
